Fayemi spoke Tuesday when the Managing Director of Media Trust, Mr. Isiaq Ajibola, led a team from the company on a courtesy visit in his office at Ado Ekiti.
“I am proud of you that you have remained with the people. Media Trust was an idea built over the years and I am happy that you have not betrayed this trust which is sacred. It is gratifying when you have publications that stand by what they believe in”, he said.
Fayemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said the Media Trust titles were still waxing stronger because they remained focused and consistent in publishing the truth and urged the company to always remain with the people through timely reportage of events.
The governor, who briefed the visitors on some achievements of his administration in the past three and a half years, said the administration had been trying to build a state which every indigene would be proud of. He said since he came into office, his government had touched every part of his administration’s eight point agenda to make life more comfortable for the people.
Earlier, Mr. Ajibola had told the governor that they were on the visit to appreciate the government and the people of the state, and hear first hand the governor’s assessment of the newspapers in order to improve on them.
He assured the governor that the newspapers would continue to discharge their duties according to the ethics of the profession, promising to remain focused, consistent and remain with the people.
