Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and Ekiti state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said governors are trying their best despite meagre resources available to them.

Speaking at the commissioning of the 4.3km Bosso Estate Road in Minna, the state capital, on Tuesday, Fayemi said his counterparts are delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

He said as someone who governed during the oil boom and also now that there is a crash in oil price, he can only give kudos to his colleagues doing more with little resources.

He said Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is like President Muhammadu Buhari who is only after getting the work done.

“We are here today for that which we call talk and do. It is a challenging moment in our country but despite that, the extent governors go to meet up with peoples demand won’t be understood.”

“And Governor Bello is one of the most astute manager in terms of managing the meagre resources.

“It is a demonstration of what we have all learnt from our principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, as he committed himself to infrastructural development which he has passed down to all of us to ensure that we resuscitate and rehabilitate any of the infrastructure within our states.

“That’s what the governor is doing and he is not doing it to the detriment of other needs of the people, as he is reconstructing old and constructing new roads, he hasn’t stopped paying the entitlements of the civil servants, pensioners. He has not stopped rebuilding schools, he hasn’t stopped working on the health sector.

“So, he is taking the bull by the horn. I know as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum that there are limited resources available to him to meet the yearnings of our people in Niger State. So it’s kudos to him for all these hard work but you know the price for hard work is more work as people would still continue to ask him to do more, ” he said.

Fayemi, who lamented over the bad maintenance culture in the country, called on the people of the state to protect all the infrastructure within their domain.

In his address, Bello said despite the fact that the estate has been around for a long time and very important one said he noticed the difficult condition people there were living before the rehabilitation.

Bello thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for approving funds for infrastructural development, which helped in carrying out some of the projects in the states.
