The police have indicted a man, Usman Abubakar, and his son, Isyaka Usman, for renting rifles to kidnappers in Plateau State.
The two, who hail from Gimbi community in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, were arrested for allegedly renting an AK47 to kidnappers to perpetrate crimes.
Parading the suspects at the Plateau State Police Command headquarters, the spokesperson of the command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said the father and son were arrested after another suspect revealed the source of the rifle.
According to the police, “This man is the father of Isyaka and owner of the gun. He hires out the gun to criminals through his son.”

Speaking to journalists, the father who confessed ownership of the gun, said it was to protect his cattle, adding that they were facing the threat of cattle rustling in their area and therefore had to protect the cattle.
The police however said an investigation into the matter was going on before the suspects would be charged to court.
