The deceased, said to be hunters, were identified as Bako Kaura and Adamu, his son.

At least two other persons were said to have lost their lives in the accident. Their remains have reportedly been deposited at the mortuary of Federal Medical Centre, Hong.

Governor Fintiri’s personal physician and head of the government house clinic Dr. William Teri, who was among the first responders, coordinated the rescue operation.

Reacting to reports that it was the governor’s convoy that was involved in the accident, Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to Fintiri, said the ill-fated van left for the campaign trip ahead of the governor.

“The convoy met the victims lying critically and released an ambulance to evacuate the injured to the hospital.”

The incident occurred after Fintiri escaped an accident, which left some persons in his convoy injured.

Daily Trust had reported how a truck rammed into the convoy of the governor just as he was about to depart a wedding venue in Yola, the state capital.
