Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a 31-year-old mechanic, Yusuf Abdullahi, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl at Popo Giwa area of Ilorin.
The suspect, a father of three, whose wife just delivered a baby, said he was sleeping when the teenage girl came to wake him up to ask for his phone.
He said he brought out the phone and deliberately played an Indian film for her which prompted his sexual urge.
According to him, “I live at Atako compound, Popo Giwa area, Ilorin, with my wife and three children. My wife has just delivered and we were staying in the same house with the minor (names withheld). I was sleeping when the girl came in and woke me up.
“I was only romancing her and haven’t penetrated her,” the mechanic claimed.
The spokesperson of the NSCDC, Kwara State command, Babawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, said that Abdullahi was caught in the act by an official of the command and the victim had been taken to the hospital for proper medical examination and treatment.
Babawale said that the suspect would be charged to court after investigations will have been concluded.
