A 41-year-old father is standing trial before a Gombe State Chief Magistrate’s Court 10, over alleged sexual assault of his biological daughter, Jummai (not real name).
Ja’afar Adamu, resident of Wuro Kesa area of Gombe metropolis was alleged to have forcefully lured the six-year-old girl into an uncompleted building located in the same neighborhood, where he raped her.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR), the accused person was arrested on August 31 by a passerby who caught him while violating the helpless girl.
Police prosecutor, Sergeant Hassan Mohammed told the court that the offense was contrary to Sections 283 and 390 of Penal Code Law and punishable under the same sections.
When asked if the information was true, the accused person denied the two-count charge of rape and incest, which contravened Sections 283 and 390 of the Penal Code Law.
In view of the plea, Sergeant Mohammed applied for a new date to enable police to finish an ongoing investigation.
The presiding judge, Hassan Ahmed adjourned the case to October 15 for mention and ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody.
