A former England international, John Fashanu has arrived in Kano to scout and sponsor 13 talented football players to Europe for a career in professional football.
He told Daily Trust that through the project tagged ‘Find a player, change a life initiative’, he intends to collaborate with the state government with the aim of uncovering top talents from across the 44 LGAs in the state.

According to him, six FIFA agents shall be involved to ensure all international best practices are adhered to saying that Kano abounds with talented youths waiting to be discovered and nurtured to stardom.
“My aim is to collaborate with Kano state in promoting young players to play professional football in Europe.
“As part of my commitment and love for Kano state, I am sponsoring 13 players from Kano for football opportunities in Europe,” he explained.
The Kano state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who received the delegation on behalf of the Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the government is ready to partner with organisations and individuals who have genuine interest in the development of youths of the state through sporting activities.
