Farmers/herders conflict: Ogun monarch demands shelter for displaced residents

The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to provide shelter for the residents displaced during the farmers/herdsmen clash in the state.

The Yewa axis had recently turned the epicentre of the conflict, leaving many people dead and properties destroyed.

The development equally forced the displaced residents to seek refuge in the neighbouring Benin Republic.

Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, the first-class monarch confirmed that the displaced residents are back from Benin Republic where they sought refuge.

Oba Akinyemi, however, noted that the residents are “still not comfortable with the makeshift shelter they are currently using.”

The monarch noted that the livelihood of his subjects has been destroyed, hence the need for prompt intervention by the state government.
