A Kaduna magistrates’ court, on Thursday, ordered that a 28-year-old farmer, Abdullahi Dauda, who allegedly killed his father, be remanded at a correctional centre pending legal advice.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, declined to take Dauda’s plea on the ground that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Mr Emmanuel, therefore, directed the police to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case to February 28.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant and his father had an altercation over his (Dauda’s) recent behaviour of taking hard drugs.
The prosecutor said in the course of the altercation, the defendant used a pestle and smashed his father`s head which led to his death.
