Farmer loses food items, livestock to fire

About 10 barns stuffed with harvested crops, five cows, 25 goats, and 30 chickens belonging to a farmer have been lost to an early morning inferno at Gurjiya village of Daura Local Government in Katsina State.

The victim, one Ali Zubairu, told newsmen, “I went to get wood and food for the animals. On my way back, approaching my house I heard shouts of fire and people rushed to help quench it. I lost all my food items like millet and guinea corn stuffed in the barns.”

When contacted, the Executive Secretary of the state emergency management agency, Dr Aminu Waziri, assured of the agency’s readiness to support the victim when an official report was ready.
