As part of measures to combat crimes and promote peaceful coexistence across communities in Yobe State, government has inaugurated an Alternative Dispute Resolution committee (Zauren Sulhu).
Speaking while presiding over the inauguration in Damaturu, the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Mallam Wali, said the committee was charged with the responsibility of resolving the lingering farmers/herders crisis, communal clashes among other forms of conflicts.

Membership of the committee was drawn from religious and community leaders, security and law enforcement agencies.
According to the SSG, part of the objectives is to ensure necessary measures are taken to prevent social vices that have negative consequences on the lives of youth and children.
Other tasks of the committee are to undertake sensitization and enlightenment of members of the public on their civic responsibilities through seminars and workshops.
The chairman of the committee, who is also the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to the governor, has urged members to give them maximum support to properly discharge of their duty.
