The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of at least one person while scores of others suffered some degrees of injury as a result of the famers/herders’ clash in Madamuwa community in Guri Local Government Area of the state at the weekend.
The Command, in a statement by its Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Abdul Jinjiri, confirmed that two persons, Ardo Barau, 45 and Buba Jummu, 25, all of Madamuwa Fulani settlement were arrested in connection with the crisis and investigation had commenced to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the crisis.
“At about 12.29 hours on Saturday, 19thSeptember, information was received from the Assistant Village Head of Madamuwa that there was a farmers/herdsmen clash at Madamuwa bush and the police mobilized a team to the scene, where about 20 persons were found with various degrees of injury.
“Fourteen of the persons were rushed to the Lafiya Primary Health Care (PHC) for treatment, while six others, who were shot with arrows, were moved to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Nguru, Yobe State for treatment. In the process, one Musa Mamman, aged 55 died while receiving treatment.
