The appointment of Dr. Bayero Salhi Farah as the substantive Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, a statement by the institute revealed.
Farah has held the office in acting capacity since May 6, 2019, following the retirement of Dr. Abimbola O. Odumosu, who also served as the Ag Director General.
The statement by the Director of Public Affairs of the institute, Paul Mshelizah, said the appointment of Farah as substantive DG was conveyed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Alhaji Sabiu Zakari, in a letter, PRES/99/MT/26 of 13th January, 2020.
Born on March 11, 1964 at Kagoro, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Dr. Farah attended Kpak LEA Primary School from 1971 to 1976. He thereafter moved to Katsina Teachers College in 1976 and graduated in 1981.
He proceeded to the University of Sokoto, now Usmanu Dan Fodio University, where he obtained his B.Sc Geography in 1987. He earned two Postgraduate Diplomas in Public Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and NITT in 1992 and 1995, respectively.
Similarly, he earned another degree from ABU, Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), and through hard work and resilience, obtained his PhD in Management and Business Studies with Specialisation in Logistics and Freight Traffic Management from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
Farah’s working career at NITT began in 1994 where he was employed as Senior Staff Development Officer, and rose through the ranks to become a Director in 2013.
He has attended many conferences on transportation in Africa, Europe and Asia. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and the Institute of Transport Administration.
