Fanny Amu sues for peace, seeks support for Dikko

A former Secretary-General for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Fanny Amu has called for peace within the country’s sports industry while urging for more support for the National Sports Commission chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko.

In a chat, the former international said that the growth and success of sports in Nigeria starts from the reconciliation of various warring parties within the industry.

“It is time to pacify ourselves. I was detained five times. Once you don’t do things that suit them, you are harassed. Look at Victor Baribote, Tunde Aderibigbe who still have court cases. Their views should not be thrown away. I will reach out to all of them. It will take time and see how things can be settled out of court,” he said.

Speaking further, Amu urged Dikko to be magnanimous and work with everyone to succeed in his new role.

“Dikko is in a bigger domain now and he has to take everyone along. He needs to work for everyone in sports, not just football alone. If you occupy a public office, you must not snub. I will be meeting him soon to discuss on this,” he revealed.

The former coach of Nigeria’s World Cup winning 1993 Golden Eaglets further said the NFF board led by Ibrahim Gusau has the prerogative to retain the services of Secretary-General of the federation, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi as well as the Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen.

“Allow the NFF board to do their job. If the president and the board wants him to go, he has the power to do that. Nigerians can’t cry more than the bereaved. The same applies to Sanusi. Gusau has the prerogative to nominate him to return even if Nigerians are calling for his exit,” he stated.
