A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Usman Na’abba has declared the family of late Sharif Ilu as the rightful owners of a pond at the Gwammaja area of Kano State.
The family was in court with popular Kano business mogul, Aminu Dantata, who claimed ownership of the pond.
Delivering judgement, Justice Na’abba said after careful consideration, evidence and witnesses presented before the court, the complainants proved beyond reasonable doubt to be the rightful owners of the pond.
Also, the court charged Dantata to pay the complainants N500,000 for wasting their time and N100,000 for the expenses spent on the case.

Speaking shortly after the judgement, the prosecution counsel, Barrister Ma’aruf Kasim said, “The court has done justice and has given back the place to the rightful owners after hearing from all sides and witnesses presented.
“After proving the case beyond reasonable doubt by the complainant, the court is convinced and has returned the pond to the family of Sharif Ilu.”
Effort to get the defense counsel, Barrister AS Magashi, to speak proved abortive.
