The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Monday Bala Kuryas, has presented cheques amounting to N64,715,630.84 million to 30 families of police personnel who died in active service in the command between 2020 and 2021.
Kurya said the gesture was an initiative of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) under “Group Life Assurance” geared towards improving the lives and capacities of the families left behind by the police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
While presenting the cheques to the next of kin and family members, the CP appreciated the IGP for such laudable initiative that provided succour to the families of the deceased personnel and encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the resources for better welfare of the families.
The families expressed satisfaction, happiness and appreciation amid emotions to the IGP, government and the CP for their efforts in ensuring better care for the bereaved families, while assuring that the resources would be well managed towards improved standard of living of the families.
