Social media evolution has been one of the fastest phenomena in the IT industry due to persistent innovations. The competition in the industry has given users the thirst to ask for more advanced social media platforms that satisfy their work, business and personal needs. Familheey Application is a social media platform that has the prospects to make it to the top 3 of your most preferred social media platforms in the nearest future.

In this interview in Lagos, Nigeria, Ken Chinweze, who is a co-founder of Familheey, tells Daily Trust about the abundant, interactive, competitive and beneficial features that accommodate everyday needs of social media users on the application. In his words, Familheey is deemed to be the “WhatsApp of tomorrow”

What is Familheey Application all about?

Familhleey is founded by three tech enthusiasts namely; Ken Chinweze, Angela Chinweze and Ajith Nair under a Company called MY FAMILHEEY GROUP (MFG) in Houston Texas, USA. We started it up two years ago from an idea created by Ajith Nair. Familheey is a social networking app for Community Based Organizations (CBO), Families, Groups, Companies and Friends that we call families or communities. Our sole purpose is to Connect, Engage and Grow within these communities. We are a one stop app creating intra-relationship. Familheey is a cloud-based platform.

What inspired Familheey and what is the goal?

The ability to bring the globe closer together in a vastly changing world. Using Familheeey, we would like to on board users to create purposeful families to connect, engage and grow. These families would collect through the platform the needs, wants, challenges and find ways to solve the issues.

How has the journey and patronage been so far?

It’s been challenging but joyful. Like any start-up business you need a thick skin and always remain focused. The journey has been a roller coaster, but we never lose sight of our goal. The patronage is rather slow, but we are fortunate enough to have Holy Catholic Families Ministries in Boston, Massachusetts as one of our primary patrons. As we grow more users this would change.

You mentioned that the app started 2 years ago, so during this period, what are the challenges you faced?

The most challenging in the development of Familheey is funding because without money you are limited as to what you can do. At this point, we have a shoestring budget, so funding is an issue. Hence, we are looking for serious investors that would invest money in the development of Familheey. Being that we are a startup company, at the beginning we were trying to be everything for everybody, but we soon learned that it’s not possible. The advent of COVID-19 changed both our short and long term plans.

Since the app is virtual, how has COVID hindered its progress?

COVID-19 stopped us dead on our tracks. We had to go back to the drawing board and regrouped. At the beginning of COVID-19 various services literally shot down and we were unable to connect with banks and other agencies which delayed our development. During this period, guidelines and requirements became more stringent. Now things are looking up.

The logo of Familheey indicates that it ‘connect, engage and grow’ can you tell us more about this?

The uniqueness of Familheey app is the ability of users to Connect, Engage and Grow. A one stop app. ‘Connect’ allows users to find or discover friends, relatives and colleagues. ‘Engage’ creates interactions, acquaintances which empower individuals to build bridges, while ‘Grow’ blossoms users into purposeful families.

Based on your statistics, where are most of your users from?

Most of our users are from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Nigeria, Brazil and others.

How can you rate people’s awareness about virtual connectivity?

We can rate it by establishing within the app platform to register any form of connectivity.

What is the future of Famiiheey in Nigeria, Africa and globally?

The future is very bright for Familheey in Nigeria and rest of Africa. We plan to reach out to the grassroot level, churches, villages, businesses, friends through newspapers, social media networks and community outreach.

Can users link the application to Google documents?

NO not currently

How is Familheey funded?

Right now, it’s being funded by the founders, but we need Investor(s) to take us to the next level.

Where do you see Familheey in the next five years?

Familheey is the global futuristic app with cutting edge technology. In less than five years, Familheey will be a household name that will create millions of opportunities to different kinds of people.

What more would you like to say about the app?

Familheey is a game changer in the social media space. This is a one stop app because of its remarkable features that are unique to this app alone. I will encourage everyone to download this app and experience it. It’s still a work in progress and has it bugs which are currently being worked on. You can download Familheey through App Store or Google Play.

Currently, we are holding our 2nd Mobile App Photographic Contest which ends this month and it’s not late to be a contestant. Download the app and compete. By the way, the prizes are as follows; $2,000.00, $1,000.00, $500.00, $250.00, $250.00, $250.00, $250.00. This is no gimmick, give yourself a chance.

What final word do you have for start-up owners?

The journey could be bumpy at time. Have a sound knowledge of the product you plan to develop. Since money is problematic, research on funding groups that you can reach out to. The challenges are enormous but be patient and prayerful.
