Falz, Ycee, Zlatan, Skiibii, others thrill audience as MTV Base marks 14th anniversary

It was a night of thrilling fun and non-stop excitement for music and entertainment lovers as MTV Base marked its fourteenth years of showcasing African music to the world.

The Mainland Block Party takeover, which was compeered by MTV Base VJ, Nenny B, including movie actor, Bolly Lomo, also featured performances from A-list musicians such as Falz, Zlatan, Chinko Ekun, Skiibii and Ycee, among others.

With over 1,500 party goers in attendance, the MTV Base partnered event featured everything from dance competitions to a relaxing poolside for guests to unwind.

Commenting on the event, the Senior Channel Manager of MTV Base, Solafunmi Oyeneye, said: “At MTV Base, we like to go big or go home. We knew that including our faithful audience in this year’s anniversary celebration was something we had to do, so it was imperative to ensure that they came to a party that would give them the complete MTV Base experience that they have come to know and love.”

MTV Base fans were not the only ones present at the celebration party.

Celebrities who graced the celebration include Falz, Niniola, Zlatan, Skiibii, Ycee, DJ Spinall, DJ Neptune, Reekado Banks, Dada Boy Ehiz, Sammy Walsh, Folu Storms, Bizzle Osikoya, Tosin Ajibade (Olorisupergal), Sensei Uche, Kemi Smallz, Mr. Real, CDQ, Jaywon, Iyanya, Okiki DFT, Blaqbonez, Oluwakaponeski, Victor AD, Sess Beats, Lyta, Somto Cody Akanegbu, SamPhrank, Tomi Thomas (Mayorkun’s manager), Shakar El, Awazi as well as Osagie John-Osarenz etc.

The party also enabled fans to share experiences with their favourite A-list celebrities.

Daily Trust reports that MTV Base is a 24-hour English language music television channel reaching 48.5 million African viewers in 10.5 million households in 48 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

MTV Base is available across Africa on satellite (pay-TV) on DStv and GTV (pan-Africa) and on terrestrial television on partner stations TV3 (Ghana), NTV (Kenya), Silverbird TV (Nigeria), Hi TV (Nigeria) and NTV (Uganda).

Targeted at mass African youth, MTV Base is MTV’s first bespoke channel for the African market and features the continent’s broadest mix of contemporary artists and music genres.

Launched on 22 February 2005, MTV Base combines African and international music genres relevant to young African viewers including R’n’B, dancehall, hip-hop, kwaito, hip life, reggae, zouk, m’balax and Afrobeat, celebrating the cultural vibrancy and creativity of African music and artists.
