A group, Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative (THURIST), has cautioned the Yoruba Nation agitators to desist from spreading falsehood among Nigerians.
The group said a Turkish national, Dr. Arslan Mazin who visited the Oluwo of Iwoland Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi at his palace in Iwo on Tuesday is not a Taliban terrorist as claimed by the Yoruba nation agitators.
THURIST Director General, Sulaymon Tadese, said Mazin is not a terrorist and that he got permission and approval of authorities for the visit.
He explained that the Turkish national was in Iwo on the invitation of Safwah Charity Foundation under the leadership of the GrandMufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan on rural development ties with a Turkish foundation.
Tadese added that the Turkish Embassy in Nigeria approved Mazin and cautioned Yoruba nation agitators to desist from misleading people. He threatened to press charges against those that originate the false information if they fail to apologize within 7days.
According to him, “It is highly disturbing however that violence entrepreneurs had reconstructed the personality of the visitor and purpose of the visitation of Dr. Arslan Mazin in Iwo on Tuesday 6th December, 2022, ascribing different tags, and fabricating unfounded lies.
“While we are informing the general public that the Turkish National got the express permission and approval of the Turkish Embassy in Nigeria before entering the country and before he proceed on all visitations, it is equally important to inform you that those who fabricate lies about this visitation which they have no eyewitness attendance of are on the verge of sparking unnecessarily panics in Yorubaland.
“It is important to state at this juncture however, that hate speech and character defamation; slanderous or libelous had been addressed under the Nigerian Law and for this reasons recalcitrant of this ugly act are on the verge of plunging themselves into a hot soup and might find themselves on their way to jail.
“Notwithstanding, it is important to remind you and as well settle before the Director of State Security and other Law enforcement agencies concerned that Arslan Mazin was in Nigeria on a diplomatic baggage for development and wellbeing of the people of Iwoland and we urge the public to disregard any other information to the contrary.”
