The seventh AWC is scheduled to hold in South Africa from Oct. 25 to Nov. 11.Uche told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos that 30 players, including 10 from the Falconets, had been pencilled down for camping in Abuja.
“The election into the board is really affecting our preparations; I have submitted our training progamme for the AWC but have not received approval to resume camping.
“I think it is due to the forthcoming elections into the board. I do hope that Aug. 21 date for the elections still stands, so that business of football can be attended to thereafter,’’ Uche said.
She said that the home-based players to be invited would be called to camp in Abuja in the first week of September while the foreign-based would join them early October.
Uche said that the 10 players invited from the Falconets would have to prove themselves in training to be selected to be part of the team to South Africa.
“There will be no automatic shirt for any of the players invited and all will fight to play in the team,’’ the coach said.
She said that the U-20 team players would need to step up their games to be able to play in the senior team. (NAN)
