Falana files request on prosecution of 800 Boko Haram suspects

He said the request is subject to earlier information by the AGF that the federal government has concluded

The firm of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has requested the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami for information on the prosecution of 800 Boko Haram members.

The letter dated August 5, 2021, which was signed by Sam Ogala Esq., said the request was made subject to the Freedom of Information Act, 2011 and expected to be provided within seven days.

He said the request is subject to earlier information by the AGF that the federal government has concluded arrangements to prosecute about 800 suspects linked to the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, as soon the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) calls off its strike.

He said in November 2020, governors of the North East requested the AGF to grant them powers to prosecute the detained Boko Haram suspects, which was rejected.
