Suleiman, who was speaking on Saturday, while reacting to a news report last week that Abaji LEA is to sack 50 primary school teachers with fake certificates, said no primary school teacher in the area, was discovered with fake certificate in the first place.
He said he had only complained, when he visited the palace of the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, in company of the council chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, that about 35 to 50 out of the 400 applicants seeking for teaching job were discovered to have fake certificates during the screening exercise.
According to him, an NCE holder after graduation always opted to seek for teaching job, saying even where vacancies are not available, some applicants always besieged the office with applications which, he said, were always compiled after screening and kept in data bank.
Suleiman said it is the authority’s desire to ensure that pupils learn under a conducive environment and acquire quality knowledge which is why it screens all applicants seeking for teaching job in the council.
“Honestly, I have confidence in all our teachers, both the ones in Abaji town and at the rural communities, that is why we always take our time to screen those that have fake and genuine certificates because some of them go to scan results and forge signatures to seek for job,” he added.
