In his welcome address delivered at State Library, Kano, the project coordinator, Malam Adamu Ali Wudil said the workshop was aimed at ensuring the success of the implementation of the Third National Fadama Development project in Kano State by producing effective development plan by the Fadama community associations through the assistance of the facilitators and desk officers.

He added that the project would create a sustainable increase in the incomes of Fadama resource users by directly delivering resources to the beneficiary rural communities and empower them to collectively decide on how resources are allocated and managed.

Wudil further explained that the scope of the project was 20 local governments and in each local government 10 communities would be formed to facilitate access to the funds which would be disbursed to the farmers groups and the vulnerable members of the society.

He stated that the project’s life span was five years from 2009 to 2013, while the total National project cost was $450.
