Faction sacks Anambra LP chair

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State has passed a vote of no confidence on the chairman of the party, Comrade Luke Ezeanokwasa.

A statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Rich Onourah, said the vote of no confidence followed failure of the chairman to discharge his responsibilities, neglect and dereliction of duty, among other offenses, in compliance with Article19 Section 2 subsection B3, of the party constitution.

The statement said Comrade Uche Ugwoji had been unanimously chosen to act as the state chairman, with a 5-man fact-finding disciplinary committee set up to investigate the sacked chairman.

The disciplinary committee has the party’s organising secretary, Prince Ifeanyi Iwougwu, as chairman, while Hon. Alex Ode Mbagwu would serve as secretary, with others as members.

Daily Trust learnt that the purported sack might not be unconnected to the role the chairman played in last Saturday’s governorship primaries held at the party secretariat, Awka.

There was furore over the emergence of a female journalist, Mrs Oluchukwu Ajulufo, as the governorship candidate of the party for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

An aspirant at the primary and a former House of Representatives member, Okey Enemuo, had expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the exercise, describing it as a “laughing stock”.
