FACT CHECK: Is NBC recruiting in Abuja, Kano, Enugu, others?

A WhatsApp message has gone viral stating that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is currently recruiting in different states of the country.

The message which was posted on different social media platforms especially WhatsApp had generated huge reactions.

The message reads “NBC is recruiting for some of these locations namely, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Benin, Owerri, Aba, Abia, PHC, Calabar, Enugu, Onitsha, Uyo.”

The text further advised anyone who has graduated and completed the National Youth Service Corps programme to send their CV and application letter to a certain email address: [email protected].

Verification

In verifying the claim, Daily Trust visited the Website of the NBC to see if there is any information of such, but found none.

Our correspondent also reviewed the official social media pages of the organization, but could not find anything relating to recruitment on its platforms.

Similarly, an official NBC who does not want to be named because he was not authorized to do so told Daily Trust that the information is false

“The only activity they have ongoing is the promotion exams for our staff at the headquarters in Abuja,” he said.

The NBC, an agency of the federal government under the Ministry of Information was established by Section 1 of the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap. NII, Laws of the Federation, 2004 and vested with the responsibilities of regulating and controlling the broadcasting Industry in Nigeria, amongst other responsibilities.

Conclusion

After verification by Daily Trust, it is confirmed that NBC is not recruiting, hence the claim of ongoing recruitment is false.
