FACT CHECK: ADP candidate still in Ekiti guber race

A viral message on WhatsApp is suggesting that the Candidate of the Action Democratic Party, Mrs Elebute-Halle has stepped down from the Ekiti Gubernatorial race.

Verifying the claim, Daily Trust findings showed that the ADP candidate affirmed that contrary to speculations she had stepped down for the Social Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Olusegun Oni, she is still in the race.

In a statement released by her, she said it was “a cheap lie from the opposition parties, who were intimidated by her chances of winning the Saturday governorship election.”

Elebute-Halle said she had not collected a dime from any political party or individual, adding that no godfather was bankrolling her.

Verdict

The News currently making rounds that ADP candidate in Ekiti, Mrs Elebute-Halle has stepped down, in the race is false as she has released a statement on Saturday morning saying she is still in the race.
