The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released new procedural guidelines for air travelers and other airport users ahead of the reopening of the nation’s airports on July 8.

The new guidelines, according to the General Manager, FAAN Corporate Communications, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, is aimed at protecting all stakeholders and preventing spread of  Covid-19.

She said departing passengers must arrive the airport properly kitted with their face masks,  must ensure a minimum of 1.5m physical distancing and must be screened by aviation medical/port health personnel.

She said those travelling with pets must get necessary clearance from the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services, adding that all passengers’ luggage would be disinfected before entry into the departure halls.

She stated further that passengers are required to wash their hands as often as possible, and hand sanitizers would be provided for passengers before entrance, at the waiting halls/lounges and pre boarding gates.

The statement added that all foot wears would be disinfected at all entrances to the terminal building, among others.

For arriving passengers, FAAN said after disembarking from the aircraft,  they would observe physical distancing as they board the co-buses, hand sanitizers would be provided in the buses,  physical distancing protocols must be observed at the baggage claim area, adding that disinfected trolleys would be made available for passengers.
