The new Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku yesterday vowed to optimise revenue generation in the authority and boost its viability as a national asset.
She spoke yesterday while meeting with top management of the agency after receiving the handover notes of the previous leadership from the Legal Adviser/Secretary to the Board, Mrs. Gold Bridget Iwinose.
Kuku took over from Mall. Kabiru Mohammed, the immediate past MD who was sacked last week by the federal government. She assumed duty as the first female chief executive of the agency.
In her inaugural meeting, the MD vowed to build on the professionalism of the organisation to optimise revenue while at the same time minimise waste.

“I want to drive on the viability of FAAN as a national asset. This is critical and not negotiable. We will improve on professionalism especially on security, safety and standards.
“Revenue generation is important and will be optimised and we will minimise waste. My mission is to make sure to increase both aeronautical and non- Aeronautical revenue.
“Under my leadership, revenue generation will be optimised and waste will be eliminated as much as possible. Staff welfare will also be a priority but I also expect the staff to be committed to put their best. As every institution is only as powerful as the human resources managing it, we will prioritise the improvement of institutional and human capacity. Working in collaboration with national and international bodies, we will promote the image of Nigeria and strengthen the network of FAAN,” she added.
Ahead of the Yuletide with heightened passenger movement, she promised to work with other partners to improve passengers’ experience.
She said, “There is an urgency of yesterday in reviving up our operations as we have fully entered the busiest season of the year for airline operations. To this end, we shall be interfacing with the various professional interests, sister agencies and partners to ensure we have smooth, safe and secure operations throughout the season. Let us do our jobs with patriotism and a smile on our faces, spreading the joy of the Yuletide.”
