Explosives: Yobe warns scavengers

The Yobe State Government has warned the public, especially scavengers, otherwise known as baban bola, against collecting and moving scraps and other abandoned metal objects from other places into the state.

The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), gave the warning in a statement made available to newsmen.

Gen Abdulsalam said the warning became necessary following the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) picked by scavengers crossing over from through the Sambisa Forest to Goniri area which injured five of them.
