Medical experts have called for the integration of family planning in cervical cancer screening services across the country.
A statement issued on Saturday by the Medicaid Cancer Foundation noted that the experts made the call during a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Kebbi State Cancer Control Programme, in collaboration with the foundation and the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KBPHDA) in Birnin-Kebbi.

Prof Oladapo Ladipo, co-founder and president of the Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH), said integrating family planning and cervical cancer screening was an opportunity to screen women and detect cervical cancer early.
He said early detection, treatment and recovery were the way forward in tackling the burden of cancer in the country.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Health and chairman of the meeting, Jafar Mohammed, said the collaboration between the state government and the foundation would pave way for positive health outcomes in the state.
The founder and chief executive officer of the foundation, Dr Zainab Bagudu, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Development, Zara’u Wali, said efforts were being made to eradicate cervical cancer in Kebbi State and Nigeria.
