The pioneering interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has told Nigerians to expect good governance and rejigging of the ruling party from the new administration.
He fielded questions from State House reporters yesterday after meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
On what Nigerians should expect from this administration, the former governor of Osun State said, “People will expect the rejigging of our party, the APC and the reestablishment of good governance in Nigeria. And it should go on record that the APC brings good governance to Nigeria.”
Asked to assess the administration after taking some critical decisions in a few days, he said, “Oh! I merely watch the perception of the country; very excellent. People are happy with him and that is why I boldly come during day time.”

When asked to open up on the advice given to the president as an elder, Chief Akande said, “It’s not yet time for advice. We are watching him do well. Nigerians are happy. By the time we hear any complaint, the time will be ripe enough for giving the president advice.”
On what transpired between him and the president, he said, “I am a village man from Osun State. Now that the president is in the city, I think I should come and see the way he lives. When I got to his house, they said he was in the office and I decided to come and say hello to him. I see that he can be very busy.
“I asked him when theywill create a Camp David in Nigeria where the president will go to rest. I met him. We joked, chatted and prayed for Nigeria.”
Tinubu’s actions in 15 days a paradigm shift – Edwards
Meeanwhile, the National convener of Nigerians with passion to promote democratic practices in the country under the aegis of ‘The Natives’, Smart Edwards, has said the actions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from May 29 to date is a paradigm shift in governance.
In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Edwards said Tinubu’s announcement of fuel subsidy removal, suspension of top government officials over corruption allegations, signing of some bills into law and appointment of experienced individuals to head sensitive positions in his administration within 15 days was an indication that he would deliver on his “Renewed Hope” agenda.
He said Nigerians should be vigilant and pray for the administration to succeed, stressing that a new era where every Nigerian would have a sense of belonging has been birthed.
“In just 15 days, your inclusiveness and deliberate strategy to elevate our lives in this country is appealing. By courage, compassion and commitment, you set out to free our common heritage from those that held us back and as you constantly bulldoze the way, this has clearly heightened our confidence.
“We encourage you to stay on course; we salute your doggedness and support how you are daily translating your manifestos to reality. Nigeria, in the hands of a dedicated democrat, must catch up for a 30-year delay in our journey to hope and prosperity for the common man,” he said.
