The ‘Jollof Face-off’ is between representatives from both countries while the winner gets to walk away with the bragging right but also a $5,000 prize.

Among the four judges for the cooking contest is Don Jazzy and Abeiku Santana.

The fate of Nigeria rests on the shoulder of Hilda Bassey, a multi-talented television cooking show host. Bassey hosts ‘Dine of a Budget’ in Dstv and has featured in several shows while Seyram Leslie Kumordzie carries the burdens of Ghanaians to the show.

The show holds in Lagos today featuring also 13 talented representatives and four judges.

According to the organisers, the ‘Jollof Faceoff’ seeks to celebrate the love Nigeria and Ghana have for the delicacy and also showcases and celebrates the different cultures, and the unbridled passion.

“We plan to evolve, from just the ‘Jollof Faceoff,’ but into holding Food Festivals and having Jollof Cookouts as well as other amazing events that everyone can participate and enjoy,” the organisers said.

Nigerians on Instagram did not hide their desire to clinch the prize as they expressed their enthusiasm to see the show.

One of the Instagram users, omokehinde_xx said, “I’m fully ready and so much excited,” Judeudoubak said he would not miss the event for anything while ebunluv said she was already fired up for the day.
