Ex-VP Sambo loses elder brother

Alhaji Suleiman Sambo, the elder brother of the former vice president Mohammed Namadi Sambo, is dead.

Alhaji Suleiman Sambo, who had a career at the Department of Government Printing in the defunct Ministry of Information and Home Affairs of Kaduna State, retired as a Chief Superintendent in 1994 after 35 years of service.

The Chief Imam of Kaduna Polytechnic Central Mosque, Ustaz Sadiq Yusuf, led the funeral prayers and offered words of counsel to Muslims, urging them to commit to worshipping Allah while contributing positively to their communities.

Ustaz Sadiq also highlighted the late Sambo’s contributions to religious tolerance and peacebuilding during his lifetime.

The funeral, held at the Bashama Road Cemetery, was attended by family, relatives, and sympathisers, including former Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, as well as religious and traditional leaders.

Alhaji Suleiman Sambo passed away on Monday at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness. He is survived by a wife, 11 children, 52 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren.
