Ex-Super Eagles captain, Chelsea legend, Mikel Obi retires from football at 35

A former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea football club legend, John Mikel Obi, has hung his boot as regards professional football at 35. Having spent two decades playing professional football, the father of twins noted that ‘all good things must come to an end’.

Taking a trip down memory lane, the defensive midfielder via a post on his verified Instagram account said, “There is a saying that “all good things must come to an end”, and for my professional football career, that day is today. I look back at the past 20 years of my career, and I must say that I am very satisfied with all that I was able to achieve and more importantly the human it has helped shape.
