Ex-Presidential aspirant, Osifo resigns from PDP

Barely 48 hours to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, a former Presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Stanley Osifo, has announced his defection from the party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said he was dumping the PDP after the leaders of the party failed to address some of the issues he raised with them.

It would be recalled that Osifo had challenged the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the PDP candidate, saying he was disqualified from participating in the primaries which produced Atiku in Port Harcourt.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos, the Presidential aspirant said he would be voting for a candidate with integrity.

According to the Edo born politician, his defection was a coincidence as he would still have defected this week even if elections had been held last Saturday.

“I believe if not for the coincidence in the postponement of the Presidential Elections from February 16 to 23, the announcement had been planned for this day (Thursday 21, 2019). I strongly believe in the decision taken and the whole world should know,” Osifo said.

He however called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair and credible elections, charging Nigerians to conduct themselves peacefully during the elections.
