Former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, will be buried on February 23, in his hometown in Owo, the family has said.

Daily Trust had reported that Mr Akeredolu, died on December 27, at a German hospital after battling with protracted prostate cancer.

The funeral arrangements made available to journalists yesterday in Akure, the state capital and signed by the first son of the former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Jnr, on behalf of the family said the funeral rites would commence on Thursday 15  with a Winning Soul Crusade in Akure, while a Jumaat Service would be held in Akure on Friday 16 at the Central Mosque.

According to the family, Loyola Day of Tributes will hold on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Ibadan, Oyo State while a Night of Tributes will be held on February 18, 2024, at OAU Secretariat, Old Ife road, Agodi, Ibadan Oyo State.

Also, on February 19, a Special Court Session will hold at Oyo State Judiciary Complex in Ibadan, and will be followed by NBA Tribute Session at the Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre,

Iyagakun, Ibadan while a Service of Songs/ Night of Tributes will also hold Jogor Centre, Liberty road in the same city.

Traditional rites (Ajabue) would hold on February 21 followed by a Special Court Session at the Court 1, Ondo State High Court Headquarters, Hospital Road, in Akure.

The Lying in State and Commendation Service will hold at Akure Township Stadium and it would be followed by an evening of tributes at St Andrews Church, Imola Street, Owo.

A service of song will hold on Thursday, February 22, at St Andrews Cathedral, Imola Street, Owo, and it would be followed by the Wake-Keep at Maranatha Villa, also in Owo followed by a Candlelight Procession and World Gyration by the Kegites Club.
