Ex-NEXIM Bank MD, Orya boosts Galaxy Sports Academy

Huge support has come the way of Galaxy Sports Academy Makurdi as a former Managing Director/CEO of Nigerian Export-Import Bank, Mr. Roberts Orya has thrown his weight behind the fast rising football academy.

Speaking during a recent courtesy call on him by a delegation of the academy, the former Executive Director with Afribank Capital Ltd stressed the need for public spirited Nigerians to come to the aid of grassroots sports, particularly youth football clubs.

Consequently, Orya immediately accepted to be Patron of the academy just as he offered a luxury Hall in Benue Hotels worth N850,000 a day for the academy’s launching coming up in the first quarter of this year.

SPONSOR AD

Furthermore, he has approved for Benue Hotels to be the shirt sponsor of the academy which means jerseys to be worn by the academy henceforth would carry the logo of the hotel.

And apart from accepting to facilitate all activities to welcome and host guests from Europe, Asia and America for the academy’s launching, he also appointed his wife the Matron of the academy and pledged to be the sponsor of Galaxy Sports female club.

In a chat with Daily Trust, the Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Sports International, Mr. Austin Akpehe said Orya’s generosity didn’t come to him as a surprise because he has a track record in philanthropic works.

“We had a fruitful meeting with him. He has given us a big boost. This to us is a harbinger of the good news that will continue to come out of Galaxy Sports Academy in 2021.

“Our plan is to formally launch this one of a kind academy in no distant future. Already we have put the machineries in motion for a hitch-free launching,” he said.
