A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Friday restrained the Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from modifying the party’s secretariat located in GRA, Ilorin.
The application was filed by one Christopher Laven, counsel to Abidemi Adisa on behalf of the heirs of late Abdulkareem Adisa, a former Minister of Works and Housing.
Both the party and BOB were joined in the suit before Justice E.B Mohammed numbered KWS/234/2021, filed on 28th, July, 2021.
According to the ruling, which was cited by Daily Trust, the court ordered, “The defendants by themselves, agents, privies or successors in the title are hereby restrained in the interim from converting, renovating or reconstructing the claimant building which is situated at Yahaya Madawaki Road, GRA Ilorin, Kwara State covered by certificate of occupancy KW3875 into a Political party Secretariat” pending the hearing of the Suit.
The case was adjourned till 11th, August, 2021,
The minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed recently commissioned the facility in Ilorin, where the faction loyal to him has been holding its activities.
A top party official, who spoke with Daily Trust on the issue, said the party was not ejected from the property as being speculated, adding that the issue before the court has nothing to do with the party.
“Yes, the case is true, but the party was not ejected from the Secretariat. It was a matter that the claimant (Adisa) raced to the court to halt any renovation of the property for it to be suitable for party purposes and activities and they judge granted it pending when both parties will come to argue their case in court in August”, the official who doesn’t want his name in print added.
The caretaker state Legal Adviser of the Minister’s faction, Barrister Ladi Mustapha, while speaking with our reporter, said, “Yes, we have also heard the news on the social media. But nobody has served us anything. I have been at the Secretariat since morning and just left few hours ago. I will also be there tomorrow.”
