A former acting governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi, yesterday raised alarm over alleged plot to kill him.
Olafemi, at a news briefing in Lokoja, said a woman was spotted around his apartment at about midnight on Tuesday and when questioned by one of his security men about her mission, she could not give cogent answer, adding that the woman claimed she was there to charge her handset.
Chief Olafemi said all efforts made by his security men to chase her away proved abortive, adding that when her phone was checked, it was discovered that the last calls she made was to driver 1, driver 2, and driver 3.
“When we asked her who are driver 1, driver 2, and driver 3, she said they are the people helping her to get job, and I asked her, at this period?”
Olafemi, who said the said woman had been handed over to the police at the ‘C’ Division, alleged that some people might be after his life because of his recent open letter over the alleged marginalisation of his people.
When contacted, spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, Mr Williams Ayah, confirmed the woman being held in police custody, adding that she had been moved from ‘C’ Division to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation to ascertain her mission.
