A former international football star, Ekene Adams, has empowered 220 less privileged persons from Chikun and Kajuru LGAs in Kaduna State with N12 million to set up businesses.
According to Adams, the empowerment programme tagged ‘Let’s Get Empowered’, is aimed at providing lifeline to small and medium scale business owners in the state.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the programme, Ekene said the decision to was informed by his passion to serve as a bridge for business development, adding that in the first phase of the programme, N4.5 million was distributed to 45 beneficiaries including medically challenged ex-football stars, the sick and less privileged as well as those in need of financial support to start their businesses.
Giving a breakdown of the 220 beneficiaries, he said: “120 persons within Chikun LGA will benefit, while 100 persons in Kajuru LGA will also get the support based on raffle draws.”
The SA to the Governor on Political Matters, Ben Kure commended Ekene Adams for the gesture and assured of government’s support to sustain it.
The high point of the occasion was the distribution of items such as grinding machines, generators, motorcycles and cash donations to beneficiaries.
