A former chief photographer with Media Trust Limited (publishers of Daily Trust and other titles), Joe Oroye, is dead.

He died on Monday at a hospital in his home town of Ogbomosho, Oyo State, after a protracted illness.

Family sources said the 79-year-old veteran photojournalist died of stroke.

Oroye, who lost his wife last year, is survived by four children and many grandchildren.

One of his colleagues at Media Trust Limited, Felix Onigbinde, described him as an easy-going and hardworking person who never had issues with anyone.

Oroye joined the service of Media Trust Limited in February 1999 and retired from the company on March 12, 2009.

He was a correspondent of Daily Trust at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja for many years.
