The Kwara State Police Command has expressed concern over the activities of some ex-convicts.
The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, said some of the criminals gave the police sleepless nights after their release.
Olaiya said, “We have a case of an ex-convict who was recently released after serving a 10-year jail term. But the day he was released from jail, his gang members who were waiting for him lodged him in a hotel and together with his colleagues went straight back to crime. “That fellow later gave us sleepless nights for six months, terrorising the community, before we arrested him recently. He has now returned to the correctional centre in Oke-Kura and prosecution is ongoing.”
He further said, “It would have been good if they repent after serving their jail terms. But sometimes the more some of these ex-convicts are held in jail, the better for society.’’
