Ex-convict sentenced to 1 year in prison for theft in Ekiti

A magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced an ex-convict, Adegboro Wale (29), to one year in prison for pleading guilty to theft.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant on November 11, 2022, at about 7pm at Rose Bud on Oke-Ila Street, Ado-Ekiti, stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N550.000.

He said other items stolen by the defendant included cash of N10,000, an itel phone valued at N15,000, one short nicker valued at N3,000, one shirt valued at N4,000 and one clipper valued at N10,000, property of one Opeyemi Egunjobi.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the offence.

The Magistrate, Mr Bankole Okuwasanmi, sentenced him to one year in prison.
