Ex-convict bags 5 year jail for selling hemp

A Lagos Federal High Court on Monday convicted and sentenced a 20-year-old ex-convict, Wasiu Tajudeen, to five years imprisonment for dealing in Indian hemp.

The convict was given the jail term by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa after he pleaded guilty to a count charge of unlawful dealing in the prohibited leaves made against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Lambert Nor, told the court that the ex-convict was arrested with the banned weed on July 2, 2022, at Abule-Odu, Lagos State.
