A former Captain of Bauchi Golf and Country Club, Professor Ediga Egbo has described Daily Trust as a partner in Bauchi golf success story.
According to him, members of the Club have participated in many competitions organised by newspaper or in partnership with Bauchi State Government, Plateau State Government and other places.
Egbo who spoke during the North East qualifying rounds of President Buhari Golf Cup Tournament organised by Daily Trust held in Bauchi on 29th and 30th December, 2018, described the event as another effort by the media outfit to promote ýgolf.
“We learnt that, the President Buhari Cup Golf Tournament qualifiers will be played in all the geo-political zones to select those who will qualify to play the finals iný Abuja, where the president himself will grace the occasion. Bauchi is hosting the North East Competition, with Bauchi Golf and Country Club as host.
“Daily Trust has been a good partner to ýBauchi Golf and Country Club through promoting our activities in various competitions and we are happy with what they have been doing,” he said.
According to him, various golf clubs like the Gombila Golf Club from Ashakaý, Yola and other clubs took part in the competition.
He added that, some players from the North West that missed their own qualifier also came to Bauchi to playý the game.
“Some came from Jigawa, while others came in from the ýNorth Central after missing their own qualifier which was held in Jos, Plateau State.
“The turnout is very appreciative. I am happy with the turnout of the participants so far. We think that, the competition from the first instance is good for ýBauchi Club and a lot of people who will now get to know more about Golf.
“Secondly, it has advertised our own Club, the Bauchi Golf and Country Club. Going forward, ýthis president’s cup will open the door to many more such tournaments in the different sub-regions, because now, it is actually a National Tour because it is based on the same format, where political zones come together and play and also have a playoff”, he concluded.
