A renowned professor of History and former lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, Professor Dahiru Yahaya, is dead.
He died on Wednesday at the age of 75 after a brief illness.

A relative of the deceased, Bashir Habib Yahaya, who confirmed the death to Daily Trust, said Prof Yahaya’s funeral will hold at 4pm at his residence in Ungogo Local Government of Kano State.
He obtained his first degree in History from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in 1970, and his PhD in the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
He started working as a Social Welfare Assistant under the Northern Regional Government Kaduna; Administrative Officer, Kano State Government before he later joined BUK in 1970.
A professor of intellectual history and ideas, Professor Yahaya is considered one of the most known History scholars in Kano.
He is survived by three wives, 22 children and many grand children.
