The remains of a veteran journalist and former broadcaster with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Mato Adamu, were buried yesterday after a funeral prayer in Gombe.
Late Adamu died on Friday at the Specialist Hospital Gombe, after a brief illness.
The funeral prayer held at the premises of the Specialist Hospital Gombe was attended by Secretary to Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi; acting Head of Civil Service, Kasimu Ahmed Abdullahi, other government functionaries and colleagues of the deceased, among others.
The deceased had an illustrious career as Borno and Yobe states correspondent of the BBC Hausa Service.

After he left the BBC, the late Adamu worked as a freelance journalist contributing to several international media organisations, including Reuters.
He was an indigene of Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State, however, the late Adamu relocated to Gombe State, where he set up a public relations firm, offering media consultancy services.
He also had a stint with the Gombe State Government, where he served as a media consultant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to enhance the communication strategies of the administration.
Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya has condoled the family, friends and media industry in the country over the demise of the late veteran journalist.
On his part, the chairman of the Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalist (NUJ), Saidu Bappah Malala, said the demise of the deceased has created yet another vacuum in the journalism profession.
