A former governor of Kano state and national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has said the doors of the party are open to everyone, including those at loggerheads with him.
Kwankwaso said this amid insinuation that another former governor of the state, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and his allies are concluding plans to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Similarly, a former speaker of the state house of assembly, Alhassan Rurum, who recently dumped the APC as well as a former House of Representatives member, Kawu Sumaila, are also said to be concluding plans to join the new but fast-growing NNPP.
Speaking on a local radio station in Kano, Kwankwaso said the NNPP needs more members and is ready to receive those willing to join.
“As we formed this party, we want more people to join, those we know and those we don’t even know. Even those that we had misunderstandings with them, we would like them to join. We cannot limit our party to only our close friends. This will not help the party to spread.
“We’re happy that this great party is attracting people. We welcome anybody that is serious about getting things better in Nigeria. We have plans for the country. We want to salvage Nigerians from abject poverty, insecurity and economic stagnation as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections,” he said.
Kwankwaso also specifically threw the door open for all members of the APC factional G-7 led by Shekarau when he said “For the G7 who are from Kano they are much welcome to our party.”
Kwankwaso added that in 2023, the NNPP will form a government in Kano to change things for the better.
“Everybody in Kano is not happy with the way things are going. It is unfortunate how Kano has been ruined for the past seven years or so. We want to put things in order. By God’s grace, we will bring change in 2023 as we brought in 2016. Our members will come in and continue with what we started,” he said.
