Eterna Plc, as part of the elaborate activities to mark its 30 years anniversary, has called on the winner of the forthcoming presidential election in Nigeria to announce full deregulation of the oil sector upon resumption in May, 29.
The Chief Executive Officer of Eterna, Mahmud Tukur, in a briefing with journalists in Lagos, said deregulating the downstream sector is long overdue.
Tukur said: “It is politically a sensitive matter and we understand that. Kudos to the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), they have made product available but the question is, at what cost?”
He posited that the same people who have been wracking their heads day and night to ensure Nigeria has products also understand the challenges and the cost associated with it.
He also used the occasion to announced plans by the company to commission 200 additional fuelling stations across the country in the next five years.
Giving a stewardship account of the last 30 years, Tukur said the company has paid up its N14 billion debt and has grown shareholders value from N4 billion to N13 billion.
