Estate Surveyors and Valuers in Nigeria are seeking role in the valuation of assets declared, especially as regard buildings and other landed property by political and public officers in the country.
They believe that only the Estate Surveyors and Valuers could properly ascertain the actual worth of landed property owned by individuals and corporate concern as well as government.
Speaking at 2015 mandatory continuing professional development (MCPD) seminar in Minna, Niger State, the Vice Chairman of the state branch of Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyor and Valuers, Dr Olurotimlari Kemiki lamented that the institute and its members were sidelined in the past in the valuation of assets declared by public officers.
He urged government parastatals and private establishments to always consult Estate Surveyors in property valuation for all purposes including asset-declaration, insurance of public buildings, balance, sheet, record keeping and compensation.
